«Cleanliness analysis in the third dimension»

Whether or not a particle blocks a shaft fit depends on its dimensions in 3D space.
In cleanliness testing, the trend leads to 3-dimensional sizing of residual dirt particles.

How it works

 

 

 

 

The loaded membrane is radiographed with a fine
focussed X-ray beam and rotated simultaneously
by small angle steps. From the series of projection
images, the spatial distribution of the matter in the
scanned volume can be reconstructed (computer
tomography method).

The smaller the X-ray spot is focussed, the better
will be the spatial resolution of the measurement.
Our instruments are equipped with micro focus
X-ray sources, hence we are able to detect
even very small particles.
